In the Fast Lane 2025 - Day 1
COME TO ME
Welcome to our first day of prayer with fasting. It is so good to take time at the beginning of the New Year to dedicate ourselves and the year ahead to Jesus.
Over these three days as a point of focus, we shall look at three areas that will support us in our prayers.
Day 1 - Come to me
Day 2 - With faith
Day 3 - Nothing is impossible
‘Come to Me’ is Jesus' invitation to us (Matthew 11:28). To the weary and the burdened, He says ‘Come and I will give you rest’.
Jesus wants us to come aside because He wants to give us a place to recover and collect His strength. It’s a place of quiet, of calm and patient expectation.
What a great thought, that whilst gathering as a church family, Jesus wants to give us His rest as we turn aside and come to him.
The way we turn aside is by giving ourselves to prayer and worship, taking time to be quiet and allowing the opportunity to tune in to that ‘still small voice’.
Be expectant that God wants to speak to you and minister to you. Whilst that will not look the same for everyone, I believe that God has got something for all of us as we begin our journey into the new year.
In whatever way you are ‘fasting’, remember this isn’t us twisting God‘s arm in order to get our own way, but rather we are increasing our sensitivity to the voice of the Holy Spirit, making it easier for us to discern His will.
This may happen in these three days or at a later date, but however God chooses to do it, we trust him, knowing that He only has plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).
‘May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit’ be your portion today - in Jesus' name - Amen.
