An elder is someone of godly character who is respected both in their local church and beyond. At Heart Church we have a team of elders whose function is to oversee our church spiritually.
Our elders care for our congregation pastorally. They are prayerful and, as James 5 teaches, they are prepared to visit and pray for those who are seriously ill.
The Bible also speaks of elders acting in a protective role over our church, particularly in regards to 'wolves in sheep's clothing' (Acts 20:28) and ensuring sound doctrine.
Our team of elders operate in all of these capacities, bringing prayerful leadership and direction to our church.
